I have customized specific aspects of my Relationship
Bridge-Building program for couples counseling. A fundamental tenet of my philosophy is
that the foundation of your emotional and spiritual well-being is built on your ability to
love and be loved. My Relationship Bridge-Building program for couples enhances your
ability to love and be loved by developing the skills necessary to enrich your
relationships.
My Relationship Bridge-Building program for couples is designed to assist any couple who's
seeking to 1) learn how to create a fulfilling relationship for the first time; 2) learn
how to enrich an already fulfilling relationship; 3) learn how to transform a troubled
relationship into a fulfilling relationship. Through your efforts, you'll unlock the
secrets to nurturing the emotional needs of you and your partner, celebrating the
individual differences of you and your partner, and balancing the needs.of you and your
partner with the needs of the well-being of your relationship.
The Relationship Bridge-Building program for couples will enable you to stop your
self-defeating patterns of behavior and communication, master the skills necessary to
overcome the obstacles that maintain the status quo of your relationship, and learn the
dynamics and relationship skills necessary to enrich your relationship. This is done
through an ongoing process of assessing and effectively utilizing you and your partner's
strengths. Together, you'll begin to identify the mechanisms that create specific patterns
of sabotage. By identifying those mechanisms, you'll identify the different choices you
have for creating an emotionally safe and nurturing relationship.
Improving the verbal and non-verbal communication of a couple is the means by which any
relationship is transformed. If you don't understand what your actions as well as your
words communicate to your partner, you'll continually sabotage your best intentions. You
may have adapted patterns of communication that do not serve the best interests of the
relationship. Over the course of time, these patterns can become destructive. You may not
be aware of your destructive patterns of communication. Eventually, you'll begin to
identify and then transform your self-destructive patterns of verbal and non-verbal
communication.
Another area of focus is the obstacles present in the relationship that keep you and your
partner stuck. There's always a competing tension between deepening the level of emotional
intimacy in a relationship and maintaining the safety of what's most familiar. Oftentimes,
conflict exists because you and your partner may disagree about how close is too close and
how far is too
far. As a way of meeting these competing tensions, you and your partner may create
immovable obstacles to maintain the status quo of the relationship.
As you identify those obstacles, you'll explore what purpose those obstacles serve you and
your partner. Next, you'll collectively create a plan whereby you can remove those
obstacles and replace them with more effective ways of keeping the relationship safe, yet
dynamic and growing. The heart and soul of my Relationship Bridge-Building program are the
relationship skills you'll learn. You'll learn how to combine these relationship
skills with your willingness to apply them in a consistent respectful fashion to any
relationship into a richly rewarding experience. Conflict resolution, providing support,
creating acceptance are but a few of the skills you will have the opportunity to master.
In its total, my Relationship Bridge-Building program is designed to activate the
ingredients necessary to assist you and your partner in forming the kind of relationship
that you both desire. By forming a partnership that is committed to the growth and
nurturance of your relationship, you'll discover the secrets to creating a great
relationship with your partner.
